Course Overview
This qualification will provide learners with an opportunity to develop an understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) relevant to their current or future roles and will equip them with basic understanding of techniques for preventing and addressing ACEs in practice. The qualification focuses on the 0-8 age range. Learners will cover the full range of ages but focus on their own experience/age group as appropriate to their work and job roles.
This course is delivered on-line over 12 sessions – dates and times to be confirmed by your Tutor on the first session. You will be expected to attend live Teams/Zoom sessions and complete activities on Moodle which is Oldham Lifelong Learning’s virtual learning platform and E-assessor. You will be required to work to specified deadlines.

You will need to demonstrate English skills at a Level 2 standard to meet the demands of this course and the distance learning elements. You will need good ICT Skills, access to a good internet connection, access to Teams/Zoom (which can easily be downloaded onto your device), an electronic tablet, PC, or laptop

You will be required to complete assessments on E- assessor, these are then reviewed by your tutor who will confirm that you have met the performance criteria. There are no exams to take but you must fully complete the assessments to the required standard to gain the qualification.
You will be required to use Moodle which is Oldham Lifelong Learning’s virtual learning platform.

The objectives of this qualification are to enable the learner to:
• Explore childhood and family structures
• Explore ACEs and understand potential outcomes for children enduring ACEs
• Understand the role of the practitioner supporting children impacted by ACEs
• Develop strategies to improve outcomes for children affected by ACEs.
