Course Overview
This course is aimed at people with no previous experience and would benefit learners starting or returning to adult education who have an interest in working with children. This qualification is also suitable for adults who have English as an additional language. The course aims to provide an
understanding of the basic skills needed to care for a baby or young child and to develop an awareness of further training that will be required in order to work with children.
Prosp Overview
You must possess a full Entry Level 3 Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing qualification in English. You will need good ICT Skills an electronic tablet, PC or laptop with good internet access to support working on Moodle which is Oldham Lifelong Learning’s virtual learning platform.

Your work and participation in the tasks will be assessed throughout the course while in class and on the Moodle page. You will build up evidence on your Moodle page and / or within a file.

You will learn how: -
• to provide a safe and hygienic environment for children
• play supports learning and development
• to listen and talk to young children
Prosp Content
You will be able to progress on to the Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in a School course if you meet the entry requirements.

Your tutor will discuss your next steps with you, and you will have access to a Careers Adviser from National Careers Service.
