Course Overview
This qualification course is for anyone wanting to work in the adult social care sector, as a refresher if you are returning to work, or for personal interest.

To develop a basic understanding and knowledge around working in the adult social care sector.
Prosp Overview
It is recommended that you possess a Functional Skills English qualification or equivalent and have an interest in the social care field. You will need good ICT Skills an electronic tablet, PC or laptop with good internet access to support working on Moodle which is Oldham Lifelong Learning’s virtual learning platform.
Prosp Req
There will be ongoing written and practical assessments during the course. You will be required to record your progress and compete a combination of activities in class and on Moodle. The tutor will track your progress and give regular feedback.

• Introduction to the adult social care sector
• Introduction to the values and principles of adult social care
• Awareness of the skills and attitudes needed to work in adult social care
• Awareness of communication in adult social care
• Awareness of the role and responsibilities of the adult social care worker
Prosp Content
You can progress to a Level 2 social care qualification or other related subject areas such as Mental Health / Awareness of Dementia.

Your tutor will discuss your next steps with you, and you will have access to a Careers Adviser from National Careers Service.
