Course Overview
This 16-week course is an introductory teaching qualification for anyone interested in training and teaching adults. There will be 2 sessions focusing on ESOL and you will be expected to volunteer in the classroom supporting learners in the ESOL curriculum.

You will need a Level 2 qualification in English. Before you enrol you will need to provide evidence of this and receive information, advice and guidance. Please ring 0161 770 8271 for more information.

Open Assessment

There is no exam, however you must meet all the specification requirements set out by the NCFE awarding body. Your tutor will provide feedback and support on your progress. There are 11 written assignments and a reflective weekly journal to complete. We recommend that you allow 3-5 hours per week study time each week in addition to the 3 hours class time. You will also prepare and deliver a half hour teaching session (micro teach) on a topic linked to teaching ESOL.

This qualification does not constitute a full preparation to teach. You may use your skills to deliver training in the voluntary sector or access higher level qualifications in teaching.
