Course Overview
The aim of this course is to develop your knowledge and understanding around working with children and to look at career opportunities. It will also provide you with an understanding of the skills and qualities needed and the requirements for working with young children.

You will need a basic level of literacy to be able to complete some written tasks and basic IT skills to access our Moodle Learning Platform.

Open Assessment

There is no formal assessment and no examination. You will keep a learner diary and an Individual Learning Plan to track your progress and your tutor will give you regular verbal and written feedback which will show you how to improve.

The course may include some of the following topics:
• The importance of communicating when working with babies and young children
• The importance of play
• Health and safety
• Skills and qualities needed to work with young children.

There are progression routes onto Entry 3 Caring for Children or Introduction to Working in a School.

Your tutor will discuss your next steps with you, and you will have access to a Careers Adviser from National Careers Service.
