Course Overview
The aim of this course is to develop your knowledge and understanding about setting up your Childminding business. The course will also provide you with an understanding of the requirements for working with young children and will support progression onto further training.

You will need a basic level of English, speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Prosp Req
There is no formal assessment and no examination, you will complete activities in class. You will keep a learner diary, individual learning plan to track your progress and your tutor will give you regular verbal and written feedback which will show you how to improve.

You will receive a certificate of attendance.

· Skills and qualities needed to work with children
· Policies and procedures: Health and safety, safeguarding, equality of opportunity
· Ratios, hours, wrap around care.
· Communication and building positive relationships with children and parents/carers.
Prosp Content
There are progression routes onto a range of courses, some of which are qualification courses, depending on your level of English.

Your tutor will discuss your next steps with you and you will have access to a Careers Adviser from National Careers Service.
