This 4 week course is for people who have an interest in becoming a Teaching Assistant (TA) or learners who are not yet ready to begin a full qualification.

Open Requirements

You will need a good level of literacy to be able to complete some written tasks and basic IT skills to access our Moodle Learning Platform.

Open Assessment

There is no formal assessment and no examination. You will keep a learner diary and an Individual Learning Plan to track your progress and your tutor will give you regular verbal and written feedback which will show you how to improve.

The course may include some of the following topics:

· The skills and qualities of a TA
· The roles and responsibilities of a TA
· Legislation and policies in Schools/ colleges National curriculum

Open Progression

There are progression routes onto childcare and teaching assistant courses qualifications. Your tutor will discuss your next steps with you, and you will have access to a Careers Adviser from National Careers Service.
