Course Overview
We offer a range of English Courses and qualifications to suit your needs and help you to gain skills to increase your employment prospects at a pace and time to suit you. You can improve your English skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification up to Level 2. These can provide a stepping stone towards an English Language GCSE.

The examination board we use for Functional English is Edexcel and exams consist of three components (writing, reading and speaking and listening).
The examination board for GCSE English Language is Edexcel. There are two exams which are taken in June and each exam covers both Reading and Writing skills. There is also a Spoken Language assessment requirement, although this does not form part of your final GCSE grade.
We also use NOCN Awards as a stepping stone to improve your English skills.
Prosp Assess
We offer Functional Skills English qualifications at Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2. These qualifications will help you improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
GCSE English Language: You will develop your spoken and written English by analysis, discussion and interpretation of: 19th century fiction, exploring a variety of genres; General non-fiction: travel writing; reports; biographies/auto-biographies; blogs; reviews; news articles; Speeches; Letters. You will have access to online resources to support your studies through our Moodle (virtual learning platform).
Bridge Courses: These courses are specifically designed to help you improve the English skills required to study at the next level. For e.g. ESOL Bridge Course, Entry Bridge Course (Entry Levels up to E3), Entry 3 to Level 1 Bridge Course and Level 1 to Level 2 Bridge Course.
Dyslexia Study Skills: This bespoke Study Skills Course offers individual support to learners with Dyslexia.
Everyday English and Maths: A Pre-Entry Course specifically designed for learners to improve their reading and writing skills.

Improved English skills will increase your confidence and help you to progress into employment and improve your career prospects.
The English Language GCSE Course will allow you to progress onto Further Education Courses, Higher Education Courses and employment.
Your tutor will discuss your next steps with you and you will have access to a Careers Adviser from National Careers Service.
Prosp Progression
The Adult English courses we provide are funded by the Government and are free. Therefore, you should only enrol on the course if you intend to complete it. If the Job Centre sent you to us, your benefits may be at risk if you withdraw.
