Course Overview
This course is for absolute beginners who have never used a computer. You will complete a range of activities on the computer will allow you to gain an Entry 2 level digital skills qualification.

This course requires a pre-enrolment interview to ensure you have the required ICT and literacy skills. Please ring 0161-770-8026 to arrange an appointment.

The exercises you complete will cover the outcomes required by the exam board and the work you produce will be assessed by your tutor.

You will complete a range of activities on the computer and learn about:

• General computer use
• Managing files and folders
• Word Processing software
• Using the Internet to find information
• Using email to communicate

You will gain the following qualification:

Finishing your course is a great achievement which gives you the chance to move on to other learning. For example, you can complete a higher-level course in the area of Digital IT or you can progress to courses that help build skills for everyday life and work. These include English, Maths and Employability Skills such as CV writing. Taking these courses or courses in other vocational areas can help you gain useful qualifications, prepare you for higher study at college or university, and help you become more independent. Your tutor or careers advisor will discuss which course is right for you and help you explore what options are available across Oldham.

This course is eligible for a range of concessions which may result in it being free of charge. This also includes a free offer for people who are employed and who meet certain criteria. If course fees are more than £70 you can pay by instalment. See www.oldham.gov.uk/lifelong for further information. We do not give refunds if you withdraw from the course, and you will remain liable for any outstanding instalments.
