The NCFE Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is an introductory teaching qualification for individuals who wish to teach, train, or support learning in the further education, adult education, community learning, or workplace training sector.

This qualification is suitable for:
• Aspiring teachers and trainers
• Workplace trainers and assessors
• Instructors and coaches
• Subject specialists wishing to teach adults
• Individuals considering a career in further education or skills training

This 14-week online course is an introductory teaching qualification for anyone interested in training and teaching adults. The first session and any micro teach sessions will be classroom based.

You will need a Level 2 qualification in English to enrol on this course. Before you enrol you will need to provide evidence of this and attend a pre-enrolment interview. Please ring 0161 770 8268 for more information.

For this course you must have access to a laptop or tablet plus Wi-Fi in order to complete your assignments online and access Moodle.

Open Assessment

There is no exam, however you must meet all the specification requirements set out by the NCFE awarding body. Your tutor will provide feedback and support on your progress. There are 11 written assignments which must be completed within set deadlines and a reflective weekly journal to complete. We recommend that you allow 3-5 hours per week study time each week in addition to the 3 hours class time. You will also prepare and deliver a half hour teaching session (micro teach) on a topic of your choice.

The course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed to plan, deliver, and evaluate inclusive teaching and learning sessions. It introduces the principles of teaching, learning, assessment, and classroom management, helping learners develop confidence in a teaching or training role.

On completion of the course, learners can progress to higher-level teaching qualifications, such as the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) or other professional development opportunities within the education and training sector.

Completing this qualification is a significant achievement and provides opportunities to progress to further learning. Your tutor or careers adviser will work with you to identify the most appropriate progression route and help you explore the range of learning and employment opportunities available.

Open General Fee Information

This course may be eligible for a range of fee concessions, which could result in it being free of charge for some learners. A free course offer is also available for employed learners who meet specific eligibility criteria. Where course fees exceed £70, learners may have the option to pay by instalments. Further information is available at www.oldham.gov.uk/lifelong. Learners should be aware that refunds are not available if they withdraw from a course. Any outstanding instalment payments will remain payable following withdrawal.
