To enrol, you must hold a Level 2 qualification in English, such as GCSE English or an equivalent qualification. To arrange a pre-enrolment interview, please contact 0161 770 8268 to book an appointment.

Open Assessment

Assessment is completed through a series of online assignments, which are reviewed by your tutor to ensure that all learning outcomes and assessment criteria have been achieved. There are no formal examinations. Certification is awarded upon the successful completion of all assignments to the required standard.

• Unit 1 – Understand Schools and colleges as organisations.
• Unit 2 – Understand Children and young people’s development.
• Unit 3 – Understand Communication and professional relationships with children, young people, and adults.

• Unit 5 – Safeguarding children and young people
• Unit 6 – Understand Equality, diversity, and inclusion in work with children and young people.

This course may be eligible for a range of fee concessions, which could result in it being free of charge for some learners. A free course offer is also available for employed learners who meet specific eligibility criteria. Where course fees exceed £70, learners may have the option to pay by instalments. Further information is available at www.oldham.gov.uk/lifelong. Learners should be aware that refunds are not available if they withdraw from a course. Any outstanding instalment payments will remain payable following withdrawal.
