Course Overview
This course is ideal for anyone working or wanting to work in a range of roles where the provision of information, advice or guidance is a requirement and is delivered via a blended learning model of delivery. Roles such as: Careers Adviser, Customer Service Adviser, Debt Adviser, Employment Adviser, Help-desk Adviser, Housing Support Worker, Learning Support Worker or Peer Mentor. You will be required to attend eight x 2 hour sessions and complete work remotely, to specified deadlines.
Prosp Overview
This course requires a pre-enrolment interview. Please telephone 0161 770 1383/1273 to arrange an appointment. You are expected to possess at least a level 1 qualification and be able to complete the written tasks to the appropriate standard. No previous experience is required in the topic.

This qualification is assessed by completing the supplied workbooks which are then reviewed by your assessor who will confirm that you have met the performance criteria. There are no exams to take but you must fully complete the assessment workbooks to the required standard to gain the qualification. You will be required to use Moodle which is Oldham Lifelong Learning’s virtual learning platform.

The main areas covered are: information, advice or guidance in practice and developing your interaction skills; signposting and referral in information, advice or guidance, its context and managing the information effectively.
Prosp Content
There is a range of qualifications in Counselling, Mentoring, Customer Service as well as a Level 3 Certificate in Information, Advice or Guidance, which you can explore with other providers. Your tutor will discuss your next steps with you and you will have access to a Careers Adviser from National Careers Service.

The course is subsidised by GMCA – please see our full fees policy available at www.oldham.gov.uk/lifelong. If course fees are more than £70 you can pay by instalment – see the fees policy. You may be eligible for a concession or help from the Discretionary Learner Support fund – please discuss this with our information, advice and guidance staff. We do not give refunds if you withdraw and you will remain liable for any outstanding instalments.
