Course Overview
This course is for anyone with an interest in working or volunteering in adult social care to give you a basic understanding of skills needed to work in adult social care. It will help prepare you for further study in this subject area.

This course requires a pre-enrolment interview. Please telephone 0161 770 1383/1239 to arrange an appointment. You should have an interest in working or volunteering in adult social care. You will need an English qualification at entry 3 level to complete the written work.

There is no formal assessment and no examination.  You will keep a learner diary or Individual Learning Plan to track your progress and your tutor will give you regular verbal and written feedback which will show you how to improve. This process allows us to discuss your progress from enrolment to completion of the course and helps us to support you to achieve your goals and in planning the next step in your learning.

Basic awareness of adult social care in our society; Understanding of a range of interpersonal skills to support working or volunteering in adult social care; Study skills to support learning
Prosp Content
On completion of this course you could continue to develop/achieve an English qualification at level 1 and/or progress onto Adult social care Level 1, Mental health awareness Level 1 or other related courses. Your tutor will discuss your next steps with you and you will have access to a Careers Adviser from National Careers Service.

If course fees are more than £70 you can pay by instalment – see the fees policy on www.oldham.gov.uk/lifelong. We do not give refunds if you withdraw and you will remain liable for any outstanding instalments.
